Born and raised on Long Island, after obtaining a bachelor’s degree from Providence College, Mr. Lyons returned to New York City where he worked as a union laborer performing heavy & highway work on the Triborough, Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges. Mr. Lyons then returned to school, obtaining his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law in Queens, New York.

For the first several years of his legal career, Mr. Lyons represented clients in commercial, real estate, and employment disputes in New York state and federal courts. In 2020, Mr. Lyons joined Gorlick, Kravitz & Listhaus, P.C., where he applies his extensive litigation experience in representing LIUNA affiliated labor unions and their associated benefits funds in in a wide variety of labor and ERISA matters.

Mr. Lyons supervises the firm’s delinquency department, where he oversees a high volume of federal court cases, representing multiemployer benefit funds and third party administrators in ERISA, LMRA and insurance coverage disputes. Mr. Lyons also represents unions and their membership in labor disputes, grievances and contract enforcement proceedings before the NLRB and in arbitration. Mr. Lyons also works in an advisory role to health plans and other benefits funds on complex ERISA compliance matters. As a former union laborer, Mr. Lyons proudly advances the firm’s ethos and mission of protecting and empowering unionized labor in the construction industry.
